The Student Movement in Greece: The first battle is won but the war continues

The strength of the Greek student movement has been truly amazing in these recent weeks. In the mass assemblies the students concluded that there should now be a pause and the movement should prepare to remobilize in September.

Greece: A powerful student movement is shaking the right-wing government

Over the last three weeks Greek society has been shaken to its very foundations by the biggest mobilisation of University students since 1981. Now this movement is at its peak with 345 University Faculties under occupation. A total of 100,000 students have taken part in the biggest student assemblies of the last ten years. We have also witnessed massive demonstrations, the biggest of which took place last Thursday with over 40,000 students marching through the centre of Athens.
